ARTIST MICHELLE GRAVES EXAMINES THE CONCEPT OF RESISTANCE IN NEW WORK
Core Contemporary latest exhibition “The Alchemy of Resistance”, a solo art exhibition featuring Core Arts Concord's current Artist-in-Residence, Michelle Graves is having an opening reception on Friday, January 13 at 6pm.
The exhibition will be an immersive multi-disciplinary experience of sculpture, paintings, drawings and special interactive installations showcasing the unique body of work Graves created on-site in the nonprofit studio during a 5-week period beginning in early December.
“Since moving to Las Vegas from Chicago in January 2021, I’ve been pretty consistent in going to art exhibits and reaching out to build a network within the art community here, Artist Michelle Graves states, “As a still fairly new transplant, I’m looking forward to seeing friends I’ve made, acquaintances, the network of the gallery and anyone interested in art/science concepts in attendance of “The Alchemy of Resistance.” I was deeply rooted in the art scene in Chicago and this opening reception will be a good introduction of my art practice to this community.”
“My experience as the Core Arts Concord resident artist has been intense and needed,” Graves added, “There’s nothing like having a dedicated work space and an allotted amount of time to come up with a concept and make new work. I am grateful for having met Nancy Good of Core Arts Concord and Core Contemporary Gallery. The opportunity and platform she provides to the Las Vegas art community and the work she chooses to present in her gallery is invaluable to the scene.”
