Best New Band 2024: The Patterns

VIM: First of all, congrats to all of you on being named Best New Band for 2024 by VIM Magazine. You’re only the second band that the magazine has named and in keeping with tradition I think it’s well earned. Having listened to your music these past couple of weeks and seeing the persona and feel you bring to your ensemble just brings it all together. It’s both a treat to the eyes and senses hearing you all rock out. So how did the Patterns as a band come about?

THE PATTERNS: Jake and Josh have been writing together since they were kids. When they moved to Vegas they linked up with Alec and Anthony and we started playing and recording as much as we could

VIM: What bands have inspired each of you through your journey in music? Any local favorites?

THE PATTERNS: Our favorite bands are Blur, XTC, and Gentle Giant.

Our favorite locals are King Fun, Sticker, Trash Animals, and Switterbeet!

VIM: Your second release, the Noise Room EP came out last year. How do you think you have all evolved from your first album to this one?

THE PATTERNS: We learned a lot about recording and mixing from the first album. We went for an intentionally darker and noisier sound for the noise room, and plan to continue evolving our sound moving forward.

VIM: What’s next for the Patterns and for yourselves? Any personal passion projects?

THE PATTERNS: We’re writing and recording our next album which will go in a more progressive rock direction. A few of us play in other projects as well, shoutout Haushanka, MsMrs And Kings/Kings

The Patterns perform next at The Usual Place on October 17 supporting Particle Kid. With band Francia and The Stevenson Ranch Davidians. Their new single ‘Up On My Broomstick’ is available now on streaming just in time for spooky season.
